RISE Team Wins 2nd Prize at National Police Summit and Innovation Expo

Islamabad Capital Territory Police in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Pakistan organized “National Police Summit and Innovation Expo 2018” on Wednesday March 14, to provide a platform for field experts, law enforcement and academia to bridge the gap and enable a connect between the respective areas by showcasing projects that contribute towards general public security & awareness and technology-based policing.


A platform was provided for experts and researchers to shed light on the modern priorities, general public security and technological innovation in policing.
This expo was held at Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad where HEC and Islamabad Capital Territory Police called Universities, faculty and students to submit their ideas using latest technology for innovation and development in the law enforcement sector.

 

We are very proud to announce that out of 144 selected projects from across Pakistan, Riphah International University-RISE secured 2nd Position for their CARE for Students project. CARE project is a NRPU funded project spear headed by Prof. Dr. Saad Zafar for the development of an Interactive Online Cyber Security and Privacy Awareness training program for the youth. The project was very well received and acknowledged by the jury and experts for its foreseeable potential and high impact role in general public safety and community service.

 

CARE for Students is an e-learning platform designed to raise awareness in the youth regarding the growing threats of cybercrimes. The interactive course outlines the major risks associated with cyber world and identifies best practices those the students shall incorporate in their daily lives to ensure safe, secure and responsible use of Internet. The course is equally beneficial for students and parents alike, for education in this widely used world of internet to counter the ever growing threats. CARE is specially designed to gamify the learning process while enlightening students of possible preventive measures to avoid becoming victims of cyber criminals and deterring students from committing illegal activities online.

 

RISE team has further explored opportunities at the event to collaborate with Law Enforcement Agencies and Higher Education Commission. We look forward to join forces for executing awareness campaigns and establishing chapters for the general community. Team RISE intends to move forward with a mission of establishing educational CERTs to monitor and analyze the Cybercrime Threat Landscape in Pakistan.
